Magic and wonder, mystery and madness. These are the tools of Soft Hearted Scientists’ trade. Formed when Dylan met Nathan and bonded over a love of music and the mystical landscape of their homeland, Wales, the two Scientists set sail for a land of musical delight.

Immediately they drew up a rigorous manifesto, which outlined their aim to create nothing but the most spectacular, heartfelt sounds ““ “like the sound of stars flying from the end of a wand”.

Their singular approach led to the release of three mind-expanding EPs by My Kung Fu recordings. The Wendigo EP, The Bethesda EP and The Midnight Mutinies EP quickly drew a cascade of admiration from far and wide. Prominent plays were forthcoming from Claire Sturgess on XFM and Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2, as well as specially recorded session tracks for Rob Da Bank and Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1.

Compiled, the 12 tracks from the EPs made the Uncanny Tales from the Everyday Undergrowth album, unleashing “a new legal high” in the words of NME. Uncut magazine warned of “melodies that burrow into your brain like a caterpillar”.

As new member Paul became the third Scientist initiated into the manifesto, they voyaged to Green Man Festival, the definitive summer gathering for new-folk heads, sharing a bill with peers Will Oldham, Joanna Newsom and Adem. They stunned a Swedish crowd at their headline gig in Stockholm and supported folk-rock´s elder statesmen, the Incredible String Band plus rising friends like Tunng, Richard James (Gorky’s) and The Eighteenth Day Of May.

Currently working on even more recorded material and playing selected European dates, the Soft Hearted Scientists are set to charm the pants off 2007.
